If there is one thing that can guarantee happiness in this life, it is
acceptance – acceptance of the world the way it is. The sooner you
realize this, the easier life will be. Here are 11 life truths that may be difficult to cope with at first, but they will help you deal better with life.
1. Encouragement is scarce; criticism is abundant. No matter what you do there will be people who will either disapprove of your choices or simply hate your guts for living life on your own terms.
2. Your opinion shall be valued by your closed ones, but only till you don’t start interfering with their personal decisions. Everybody will live life the way they want to, do things they want to whether or not you approve. You cannot control people.
3. But what you can control is your own life – because if you don’t, someone else will. Blaming it on the circumstances may get you sympathies from others, but it never makes for a valid excuse. Giving up and complaining about life problems is easy, manning up and doing something about it takes real courage and confidence.
4. There’s no absolute right or wrong in this world, just perspectives. What may seem stupid to you may actually be the wisest decision for someone else. That’s exactly what makes us so different from each other.
5. Nobody will love you exactly the way you love them. Some will love you more, some less, some won’t love you back at all. But that doesn’t mean they are bad people, just not the right ones for you, maybe.
6. People don’t mean most of the things they say. Your real worth is neither the appreciation people shower you with nor the nasty criticism that comes your way. The truest evaluation comes from yourself.
7. We have most of the qualities we don’t like in others. Think about it.
8. You don’t always get your due. You don’t get what you deserve, and sometimes, you get much more than what you deserve. Life is unfair. Complaining about it is not going to help.
9. You will be judged, all the time. People may say they’re not judging but they are. They always are. However, that is perfectly fine. What they think is their business, not yours. Just laugh it off.
10. You are not the centre of the universe. Most people don’t care what you think of them, and others don’t even know you exist. Everything cannot revolve around you. Giving yourself too much importance in other people’s lives will only bring disappointment.
11. You may never be ‘the best’. And, that’s okay because you don’t have to be the best. It may look like one, but life isn’t supposed to be a race. Don’t think of being the best, think of being yourself.
