You are not the only one..!!

A conversation between a passenger and Software Engineer in Shatabdi Train. If you read it till the end, you will not only thank me and the person who shared this with me, but you will see life in a whole different way!

Vivek Pradhan was not a happy man. Even the plush comfort of the Air conditioned compartment of the Shatabdi express could not cool his frayed nerves. He was the Project Manager and was still not entitled to Air travel. It was not the prestige he sought, he had tried to reason with the admin person, it was the savings in time. As PM, he had so many things to do!! He opened his case and took out the laptop, determined to put the time to some good use.

'Are you from the software industry sir,' the man beside him was staring appreciatively at the laptop. Vivek glanced briefly and mumbled in affirmation, handling the laptop now with exaggerated care and importance as if it were an expensive car. 'You people have brought so much advancement to the country, Sir.Today everything is getting computerized. ' 'Thanks,' smiled Vivek, turning around to give the man a look. He always found it difficult to resist appreciation.

The man was young and stockily built like a sportsman. He looked simple and strangely out of place in that little lap of luxury like a small town boy in a prep school. He probably was a railway sportsman making the most of his free traveling pass. 'You people always amaze me,' the man continued, 'You sit in an office and write something on a computer and it does so many big things outside.' Vivek smiled deprecatingly. Naiveness demanded reasoning not anger. 'It is not as simple as that my friend. It is not just a question of writing a few lines. There is a lot of process that goes behind it.'

For a moment, he was tempted to explain the entire Software Development Life cycle but restrained himself to a single statement. 'It is complex, very complex.' 'It has to be. No wonder you people are so highly paid,' came the reply. This was not turning out as Vivek had thought. A hint of belligerence crept into his so far affable, persuasive tone. 'Everyone just sees the money. No one sees the amount of hard work we have to put in. Indians have such a narrow concept of hard work. Just because we sit in an air- conditioned office, does not mean our brows do not sweat. You exercise the muscle; we exercise the mind and believe me that is no less taxing.'

He could see, he had the man where he wanted, and it was time to drive home the point. 'Let me give you an example. Take this train. The entire railway reservation system is computerized. You can book a train ticket between any two stations from any of the hundreds of computerized booking centers across the country. Thousands of transactions accessing a single database, at a time concurrently; data integrity, locking, data security. Do you Understand the complexity in designing and coding such a system?'

The man was awestruck; quite like a child at a planetarium. This was something big and beyond his imagination. 'You design and code such things.' 'I used to,' Vivek paused for effect, 'but now I am the Project Manager.' 'Oh!' sighed the man, as if the storm had passed over, 'so your life is easy now.' This was like the last straw for Vivek. He retorted, 'Oh come on, does life ever get easy as you go up the ladder. Responsibility only brings more work. Design and coding! That is the easier part. Now I do not do it, but I am responsible for it and believe me, that is far more stressful. My job is to get the work done in time and with the highest quality'. He continued, 'To tell you about the pressures, there is the customer at one end, always changing his requirements, the user at the other wanting something else, and your boss, always expecting you to have finished it yesterday.'

Vivek paused in his diatribe, his belligerence fading with self realization. What he had said, was not merely the outburst of a wronged man, it was the truth. And one need not get angry while defending the truth. My friend,' he concluded triumphantly, 'you don't know what it is to be in the Line of Fire'. The man sat back in his chair, his eyes closed as if in realization.

When he spoke after sometime, it was with a calm certainty that surprised Vivek. 'I know sir.  I know what it is to be in the Line of Fire.' He was staring blankly, as if no passenger, no train existed, just a vast expanse of time. 'There were 30 of us when we were ordered to capture Point 4875 in the cover of the night. The enemy was firing from the top. There was no knowing where the next bullet was going to come from and for whom. In the morning when we finally hoisted the tri-colour at the top only 4 of us were alive.' 'You are a...?'

'I am Subedar Sushant from the 13 J&K Rifles on duty at Peak 4875 in Kargil. They tell me I have completed my term and can opt for a soft assignment. But, tell me sir, can one give up duty just because it makes life easier. On the dawn of that capture, one of my colleagues lay injured in the snow, open to enemy fire while we were hiding behind a bunker. It was my job to go and fetch that soldier to safety. But my captain sahib refused me permission and went ahead himself. He said that the first pledge he had taken as a Gentleman Cadet was to put the safety and welfare of the nation foremost followed by the safety and welfare of the men he commanded his own personal safety came last, always and every time.'

'He was killed as he shielded and brought that injured soldier into the bunker. Every morning thereafter, as we stood guard, I could see him taking all those bullets, which were actually meant for me. I know sir. I know, what it is to be in the Line of Fire.' Vivek looked at him in disbelief not sure of how to respond. Abruptly, he switched off the laptop. It seemed trivial, even insulting to edit a Word document in the presence of a man for whom valour and duty was a daily part of life; valour and sense of duty which he had so far attributed only to epic heroes.

The train slowed down as it pulled into the station, and Subedar Sushant picked up his bags to alight. 'It was nice meeting you sir.'

Vivek fumbled with the handshake. This hand had climbed mountains, pressed the trigger, and hoisted the tri-colour. Suddenly, as if by impulse, he stood up at attention and his right hand went up in an impromptu salute. It was the least he felt he could do for the country.

PS : The incident he narrated during the capture of Peak 4875 is a true-life incident during the Kargil war. Capt. Batra sacrificed his life while trying to save one of the men he commanded, as victory was within sight. For this and various other acts of bravery, he was awardeld the Param Vir Chakra, the nation's highest military award. Live humbly, there are great people around us, let us learn!

EVERYONE YOU MEET IS FIGHTING A HARD BATTLE. LET US ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN OUR HEARTS FOR ALL THOSE THAT ARE FIGHTING A HARD BATTLE WITH SELFLESSNESS & DEDICATION. ROYAL SALUTE TO ALL THOSE WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS WITH THEIR FAMILIES FOR WE CAN CELEBRATE THE SAME WITH OUR'S.

Lessons for Life #69

Are you one of them? If you see beauty in others then you might as well be one of them. You might have heard "Everything has two sides", just like a coin. Same goes here as well. Everything has some beauty to it even if that accounts for much less in total. So one should always look for positive things in everyone and everything because there will definitely be some.

Taking those qualities from others and gathering in yourself will make you better then any of them. Try and see beauty all around you and eventually you will end up being one yourself.

Fire always spread..!!

A thought provoking short social film by IDream Pictures
Directed by: Anubhav Singh

We don't mind setting houses on fire as long as our own house is safe. The problem is, we forget that the fire always spreads. It doesn't see the direction.

Of course the problem of sexual harassment doesn't have a geographical limitation, but Delhi does have this problem too, and being the capital of our nation, it ought to lead by example. Sadly, the example that Delhi has been setting of late is not too encouraging.

Your Soulmate

Your soul-mate is not someone who comes into your life peacefully. It is who comes to make you question things, who changes your reality, someone that marks a before and after in your life. It is not the human being everyone has idealized, but an ordinary person, who manages to revolutionize your world in a second.

Lessons for Life #68

Rightly said here, What do you think? I agree with it. When we dwell into our memories we try to live in the past. But on the other hand dreams keep us occupy with the future. Even if your memories of the past are not that good today, you can start working on your dreams today and help yourself in making a wonderful memory for the time when you take a look back from the future.

So forget about the past and work in present to shape the future and collect wonderful memories on the road along so the when you look at the past from the future you have nothing to regret and are happy.

Don't Freak, I'm SIKH

Don't freak, I'm SIKH

So the next time you see a Turbaned man walking the streets, remember that he is a man of love, equality and peace. We are taught to love and protect people from all religions and races, that's why singhs are given these unique faces.

See my turban is a crown, a uniform and  a symbol against oppression. 83000 sikhs died fighting in the world wars- something they don't teach you in history lessons.

In fact sikhs by far are the community with lowest number of people in prison. We are not criminals or terrorists. We are law abiding citizens.

58000 gurudwaras produce 6 million meals a day. Our responsibility is to serve humanity in every way.

It's in our blood to live as a democracy. It's in our blood to fight against tyranny. Our guru gave his life so everyone could practice their faith with freedom.

So the next time you see a Sikh, you know the turban's true meaning.

My turban reminds me to be a good person.

So let me repeat my opening statement- Don't freak, I'm SIKH

Lessons for Life #67

Now this lesson is related to one is those times when you are sad. There are times when you feel sad and are hurt. Those times its difficult to make others understand the reason why you are sad or whats the problem. Just try to be normal and put a smile on you face for nothing is constant and like all other things this too will definitely end soon.

Be positive and be happy even when it is difficult like hell to fake a smile because remember that explaining other the reasons could be more hurtful. Sometimes the things are to be faced alone. Face it and keep in mind that it will certainly change you for good.

Have a great day and keep smiling. :)

Moist Eyes and Bowed Heads!

Stout Sardars walkout slowly, fighting tears. Punjabi women, young and elderly, have water streaming down the eyes. The teenagers were wide-eyed. This scene is playing out daily at city theatres for the last several days. All of them have just watched the 3D animation ‘Chaar Sahibzaade’, which depicts the sacrifice of the four sons of the last Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, in the Battle of Chamkaur against Wazir Khan, a vassal of Aurungzeb.

In Kolkata, Inox is still running a show at Forum, Elgin Road, while block bookings have kept the multiplex authorities busy at Hind, Quest, Swabhumi and South City. PVR had a two-week run with the film and are open to screen it on demand. Single screen theatres like Menoka had earlier been block-booked.
Surjeet Singh, a management student, recalled how he had grown up trying to visualize the Battle of Chamkaur. “It has left an indelible mark in my mind. Many of my friends feel the same. When we finally had the visual experience, it made us even more interested in the Sikh past. I think it’s time I revisit the history pages,” he said.

Amrita Kaur, a CA from Bhowanipore, described how emotional the experience had been for her. “All of us were in tears. The young princes were no less than superheroes. I’m ready to watch it again and again.”
Surinder Singh of Surinder films is one of the major backers of the film. “Our religion prohibits anyone playing the role of the Guru. That’s why it is in animation. The producers have been brave to do this. It’s a rare movie on Sikh history and a well-made one. I had tears in my eyes,” he told TOI.

So while Surjit Singh Batra and Tejender Singh Walia of the Bara Sikh Sangat sat riveted, youngsters like Amanbir Singh Makhni, an event manager and Class-XII student Meherpreet Kaur Soni compared their childhood history lessons and had flashbacks.

Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, the general secretary of Behala Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, was instrumental in the film’s release. He said: “Our heroes lived for real, fought for real and had no super powers except for unflinching courage and devotion”.

Subhasis Ganguli, Inox regional director, said: “When we had a sellout week, we had a proper release. Then the block bookings started.”

Kamal Gianchandani, president of PVR Pictures, said: “Kolkata being a hub of intellect was open to the film and we received a great response.”

A Great Message

Lessons for Life #66

Now next lesson is given by Buddha. This says that "we do not heal the past by dwelling there. We heal the past by living in the present."

Seems to be true. Past is the past, it already means it is gone now. If you keep mulling it over, the result would be nothing but a big zero. The only thing that can be done with the past is to let it go and move on. We live in present and we should try to make the most of it.

"Jeen Di Gal"- Prabh Gill

Here is the rap lyrics (by Raxstar) of the song "Jeen Di Gal" by Prabh Gill.

Neend na aave, Chaain na aave
Saare duniya wale puchan menu tere baare
Har vele teriya kiyala vich ni meh rehva
Now how am I supposed to function
Is this the way it's supposed to be with someone when you say you love them
Leave it, it's too late now it's broken down
used to be the one to hold you down, I don't know you now
I remember where we went
Every text you sent
that I deleted and the names of all your friends
Every film that we watched, every song that we heard
Every place that we ate at and every waiter that served us
Every road that we drove down every corner we turned
Every name that I called you and every bridge that I burned
My head is saying go
Dil kehnda kiveh phulla va
Jere puchan mera haal ohna nu ehi sunaava

You’re Allowed and You Matter

You don’t need anyone’s affection or approval in order to be good enough. When someone rejects or abandons or judges you, it isn’t actually about you. It’s about them and their own insecurities, limitations, and needs, and you don’t have to internalize that. Your worth isn’t contingent upon other people’s acceptance of you — it’s something inherent. You exist, and therefore, you matter. You’re allowed to voice your thoughts and feelings. You’re allowed to assert your needs and take up space. You’re allowed to hold onto the truth that who you are is exactly enough. And you’re allowed to remove anyone from your life who makes you feel otherwise.

You won’t be the same person

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure  whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain, when you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”
~Haruki Murakami

After the storm you will never be the same because you will definitely be changed for better and this form of you is stronger that was there before storm. The things storm does to us change us for the rest of our life and we will never be the same again for we have bettered from the last version of us.

Lessons for Life #65

The above pic has to offer a lot and needless to say that it depicts the ugly truth of life. All our life we give priority to other things and in the end when we are free for our-self, the time is not there for us. But when we have time we don't live for our-self. True we should help others but we do need to live our life to fullest as well.

So enjoy each day, each phase of your life. :)

Don't Worry and Cling to Hope

We all have times when life feels hard; when we’re frustrated and tired and just want to hide away. If that’s you right now, don’t worry – every caterpillar has to rest to become a butterfly and you’ll soon find your wings again. In the mean time, let your Angels wrap you in theirs. You are so loved.
~Anna Taylor

Sometimes wait is the only thing to do. But never ever leave hope.
"Remember that HOPE is a good thing. May be the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." - Andy Dufrense (The Shawshank Redemption-1994)

Lessons for Life #64

You gotta reach that point from where on you know your life is yours and you only. You cannot blame others for  the things you do or hope for others to do you things. You shouldn't lean on, rely on or blame others for what happens in your life for you only control your life and others don't have the slightest control of it.

The day you realize this is the day your life truly begins. Be sure to live a quality life.

Change is Constant

If you’re laying in bed wrapped up in sheets of miserable thoughts, go to sleep. If thumbing through old messages only causes your heart to ache and long for something unattainable, erase them. If it hurts to keep everything you’re feeling bottled up inside, let it out. If you’re clinging onto someone who doesn’t treat you like you’re worth the world, Let them go. Because sometimes we choose to believe that things are only indistinguishable shades of gray when in reality, life is more black and white than it seems. If you’re unhappy with the way you are living your life, change it.

Lessons for Life #63

Now this is another great lesson. One can be like a Iceberg in a way that you don't need show your all wonder and splendor. Just show a portion of you. And if anyone is willing to dive deep within you or with you then only he/she deserves to know the true and complete you.

Human characteristics may be deep enough to get the complete grasp of and might be visible fully to those who are close enough to that individual. So next time you make an impression of someone you don't know much about remember that somewhere deep within he/she might have wonderful nature. The same goes for you in a way that your first impression might not be good for others but its not your problem for they don't know you closely and make a bad impression of you is their problem.

Have a great day. :)

A true Friendship

A true friendship doesn’t need daily conversation. It does not assume the worst, even when communication is lacking. Strong friendships survive the storms of this life because they believe the best about each other. As long as the friendship lives in the heart, true friends will never part.

You will definitely agree with all of the above if you have a true friend. This relation help us sail through every problem in our lives and a true friend is always with us no matter what. We all have that one true friend to whom we can turn to anytime.

And I bet you too have one. :)

Lessons for Life #62

It has been a long since last lesson, so the wait is over. Here comes another one. It somehow relates to present condition. :P

So what does it say- there is always an invisible thread connecting those who are destined to meet. But don't you worry about the thread because regardless of time, place, or circumstances you will definitely be together if you are meant to be. The thread may stretch leading to distances among people, or it may tangle but it will never break. The thread is strong enough to make you connected and will bring you together eventually.

So similarly the post will continue to flood in no matter how much time it takes between two posts. Stay connected and be happy.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

Today is Martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Amazing Message in National Language

Poetry

The following is an epic poem dedicated to college life:-

Kash wo din laut aaye..!!
Jab yaron ki yari thi,
Dosto me simti duniya hmari thi…

Jab puri rat CS khelne ki bimari thi,
Aur din me kharate marna aadat hamari thi.

Jab fail hone par party milti thi,
Aur ache marks lane par mar khakr b treat deni padti thi.

Jab har achi ladki me khud ki girl friend nazar ati thi,
Aur thode tym bd wo hmari bhabi khlati thi.

Jab class bunk karke ladki ko ghumane leke jate the,
Teachers ke boring lecture FB aur wtsapp ka sahare kat jate the.

Jab har rat chote se rum me mehfil jama krti thi,
Aasman chune ki bate hua krti thi.

Jab har gam hasi me tal jata tha,
Par har khusi me GPL ka swad chakna padta tha.

Jab din bahut bade,
Aur sal bahut chote the.

Jab paise the kam par dosto par lutane ka mann krta tha,
Aaj paise h to dost nazar ni ata.

Jab har khusi me dost k sath bottle kholna,
Aur har gam bottle sath mitana acha lgta tha.

Jab dost ki gali me apnapan nazar ata tha,

Jab nite canteen yaaron ka adda hua krta tha,
DS par ladkiyo ke karan bda khracha hua krta tha.
Jab har commited bnda sharif,
Aur single bnda turkhey hua krta tha...

Jab dost ko jankr prblm me fasate the,
Aur fir usi prblm se nikalne me jaan lga jate the.

Jab professors k naye naye nam nikale jate the,
Aur assignment copy krne ke record ban jate the.

Jab bat bat par dosto ki tang khicha krte the,
Aur bina mtlb kisi b bat pr lad jate the.

Jab exam tym me sari creativity jag jati thi,
Aur har game me naye naye record bnane ki aag lag jati thi.

Wo pal ab bahut yaad ate h,
Ankho me ansu aur chre par muskan late h.

Dua krte h tjse ae khuda wo dost aur unki dosti fir se mil jaye,
Zindagi me basi in yaadon ko 1 pechan mil jaye.

Kash wo din fir se laut aye..!
Kash wo din fir se laut aye..!!

A Second Look

This is my second post about this movie. If you don't know then let me tell you that this movie is doing wonders and currently running successfully all over the world. You must go and watch this movie if you haven't.

The following are the links to the music videos of the movie:-

1. Vela Aa Gaya Hai
2. Mittar Pyare Nu
3. Title Track- Chaar Sahibaade
4. Satguru Nanak Pargateya

These are really nice videos, have a look and enjoy.
You can find the link to the trailer of the movie in my last post about this movie.

Its worth a watch for everyone for it teaches us a lot about Sikh history and the highly regarded values which forms the base for Sikhism.

Difference between Giving up and Letting go

There is a big difference between giving up and letting go. Letting go means freeing yourself from something that is no longer serving you. It means removing toxic people and belief systems from your life so that you can make room for relationships and ideas that are conducive to your well being and happiness. Giving up reduces your life. Letting go expands it. Giving up is imprisoning. Letting go is liberation. Giving up is self-defeat. Letting go is self-care.So the next time you make the decision to release something or someone that is stifling your happiness and growth, and a person has the audacity to accuse you of giving up or being weak, remind yourself of the difference. Remind yourself that you don’t need anyone’s permission or approval to live your life in the way that feels right. No one has the authority to tell you who to be or how to live.

Lessons for Life #61

The world is same for everyone and every kind of people live here. That includes successful and unsuccessful person. But the only difference between these two types is how they see the things on this earth. Apart from that their attitude towards life matters a lot and their attitude makes them who they are.

Successful person will see the bright side of the things whereas unsuccessful person will see only the darkness even if there is only a little bit of it. So try to see positive side of things from now on and you will end up as successful. :)

Lessons for Life #60

Muhammad Ali is the world renowned boxer generally considered among the greatest heavyweights in the sport's history. Lets see what he has to offer:-

"The service you do for others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth".

One should consider him/herself blessed to have been born as a human here on earth. So you should do your part by serving others and make your life memorable for others. The time you are about to leave this home, there should be at least one memory which you would be proud of otherwise your life will be nothing more than a waste. Regardless to say the things which make you proud are not you do for yourself but what you did for others.

Its up to you what you make of your time you live on earth and do your best so that you won't regret it in the end.

Believe in God

If God shuts a door, quit banging on it! Whatever was behind it, wasn’t meant for you. Consider the fact that maybe he closed that door because He knew you were worth so much more.
~Unknown

Believe in God and remember everything done by him has a reason. If he has shut a door, he must have planned something bigger for you. :)

Lessons for Life #59

You know all the answers we seek from the world can be found in ourselves. Somewhere inside us we know a lot more and there is a lot of scope to become better. Independent of the fact how much we try we never gonna reach the best of us. There is always a scope of improvement and we can only become better with every experience in our life. You can never see the best of you because with time you can only become better and thus try to keep improving because there is always the space for that.

So start by believing in yourself and keep transforming in better and stronger version of you.

The capacity to be alone is the capacity to love

The capacity to be alone is the capacity to love. It may look paradoxical to you, but it is not. It is an existential truth: only those people who are capable of being alone are capable of love, of sharing, of going into the deepest core of the other person – without possessing the other, without becoming dependent on the other, without reducing the other to a thing, and without becoming addicted to the other. They allow the other absolute freedom, because they know that if the other leaves, they will be as happy as they are now. Their happiness cannot be taken by the other, because it is not given by the other.
~ Osho

You see the people who can live alone truly know their inner-self and thus the complete self of them. They don't need others to satiate their needs. A person who knows him/herself fully is in fact capable of almost anything. We can learn a lot from ourselves and that can be used to do anything.

Lessons for Life #58

This one is epic. Some people love to help others and try their best to contribute to others problem. But these helping people sometimes face their own problem and so in that struggle they might not be able to help others.

But sometimes these people are able to help other even in that situation and that is their biggest virtue. This type of people are rare and help others no matter what.

Next time you find these type of people, try to see if you can learn something from them or if they can positively influence your life.

Lessons for Life #57

The message in the pic above is a metaphor. It says that to be skillful drivers one needs to drive on difficult roads and not only the straight ones. But actually it wants to say that we don't learn much if the task is simple or easily doable. The more hard the task is, more is the probability that we would push our limits getting to know more of our true inner strengths and thus improving ourselves for the better.

So next time you see something difficult, get ready to explore your unknown inner strengths and knowing the new you each time. :)

Walking Away

Sometimes walking away has nothing to do with weakness, and everything to do with strength. We walk away not because we want others to realize our worth and value, but because we finally realize our own.

Lessons for Life #56

Time never stops for anybody and the only thing constant here on earth is "Change". Change is one of the  many truths about life. Everything changes with time. So you gotta move on with this life, otherwise you would stuck in a given place with nothing to do as everyone would have moved on except you.  You cannot hold up to something for long enough and eventually you have to give it up because change is bigger than everything and it doesn't allow anything to be constant.

In every situation of your life you definitely have choices to make and it should only be your call and nobody Else's about which choices you make because nobody will know you better. You need to think wisely and make choices that helps you become stronger and drives you towards completness.

Hope this post too contributed somehow towards your intellect. :)
Till next post.

Lessons for Life #55

What do you think is more important Knowledge or Love. Well Knowledge may help you reach to the top in your life but you might me lonely at that position without any loved ones. Whereas on the other hand love will make you reach to the bottom most level in a society not in the sense of your position, but as in your fame. You will be known and loved by people from each and every status of the society for your loving nature will attract others.

Since one day you will be just be a memory, so there love defines the time you live on earth after you die, in memories of others. Also eventually your loving nature will definitely fetch you immense knowledge but not the other way round, knowledge will never guarantee you love.

For the case of talking you might have heard :- "The more I know, the less I speak". A person learns more by listening and not by speaking. So keep your ears ready to listen.

And lastly do you know why are we sent by god to earth. The sole purpose is to serve as an angel to others i.e to help others in any way possible. Here on earth, everyone has an angel and also we act as one for others. We are thus here on earth not to live our lives but to influence lives of other in a positive way.

So one must have heart full of love, the habit of listening to others and a hand willing to help others. :)

Lessons for Life #54

Many of us know this awesome character. Even he has something to teach us. You see we have always, always something to learn from everybody. So lets dwell in his class. :)

Birds which are wonderful creations of God are free to roam around. But they do need rest. So often they sit on the branches and other things for this purpose. Here the lessons comes. At any given point, the branch may break. But the bird is never afraid of that because the bird is confident about the wings. Whenever the branch breaks bird will use it's wings to rise above and will never get hurt.

Similar is the case with everybody on earth, so one need to always believe in him/herself to overcome every situation in the life.

Lessons for Life #53

He is the former President of the world largest democracy, INDIA. He is Dr APJ Abdul Kalam commonly known as the missile man of India. He has given a lot to the nation and needless to say the lessons given by him are good enough to apply into our lives to make it better.

And one of his lessons is about the stories we read be it success or failure. And the person here says that we should not read only success stories but those leading to failure too because success stories will only give us a message about what the success was. But on the other hand failure stories will tell us how the failure occurred and what was wrong in the process so indirectly it removes the possible factors for failure and thus getting us closer to the factors contributing towards success.

If you remember what Thomas A. Edison said when he failed 100 times in his experiment. He said that he is not disheartened because now he knows all the ways of failure and is left with the only way to succeed. So be like this and don't worry if you don't succeed in the first few attempts. You see the taste of success after the failure is even better.

1984 Anti Sikh Riots:- An Endless Wait For Justice

First day - 31st October 1984

9:20 am: Indira Gandhi is shot by Sardar Beant Singh ji and Sardar Satwant Singh ji at her residence, No. 1 Safdarjung Road, for the Attack on Sri Darbar sahib June 1984.

She is then rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

10:50 am: Indira Gandhi dies.

11:00 am: All India Radio listeners learn that the two security guards who shot Indira Gandhi were Sikhs.

4:00 pm: Rajiv Gandhi returns from West Bengal and reaches AIIMS. Stray incidents of attacks in and around that area. Rajiv Gandhi has already by this time spoken to some high ranking congress officials and politicians.

5:30 pm: The motorcade of President Zail Singh, who is returning from a foreign visit, is stoned as it approaches AIIMS.

EVENING of 31st October 1984 URGENT meetings are taking place at a high ranking congress leaders residences in Delhi.

One of those meetings was at 24 Akbar Road, New Delhi attended by members of Parliament and senior members of the Congress party including Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar, Kamal Nath, Dharam Das Shastri, Vasant Sathe, HKL Bhagat, Lalit Makhen, Arjun Das amongst others.

What is being discussed? The planning of a genocide! How to bring in tyres, kerosene oil, iron rods, and have enough transport to mobilise paid hooligans, rapists, murderers from one point to another...how the police are not to intervene, how state media will be used to show inflammatory speeches and scenes.

Congress MP's are ordered to make pacts with known 'criminal gangs' in their area's to eliminate Sikh men, rape their women and loot their belongings. A memo is sent out to ALL Delhi police stations ordering the immediate 'stand down' of ALL Sikh police officers till further notice AND for all Sikh police officers equipped with fire arms to return their fire arms to the local police station as of immediate effect.

1000's of photocopies of Voters list are being printed, containing ADDRESSES of Sikh houses and businesses in and around Delhi. Organised and well equipped gangs of ruffians set out in different directions from AIIMS. The violence, including violence towards Sikhs and destruction of Sikh properties, spreads. Rajiv Gandhi is sworn in as the Prime Minister.

Senior advocate and BJP leader Ram Jethmalani, meets Home Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and urges him to take immediate steps to protect Sikhs from further attacks. Delhi's Lt. Governor, P.G. Gavai and Police Commissioner, S.C. Tandon, visits some of the affected areas. Late evening, Delhi transport corporation buses are making their way out of Delhi to surrounding states to pick up paid hooligans/mobs.

NIGHT of 31st October 1984 Meetings are still taking place AND now truck loads of Iron rods and tyres are coming into Delhi from surrounding states. Trains and tankers full of kerosene oil are also making their way to OLD Delhi.

Jails around Delhi housing the most ruthless criminals are now being emptied of ALL those criminals including murderers and rapists, on the grounds that they can go FREE if they kill Sikh men and rape Sikh women, they are also told they will be paid for every Sikh that is killed and for every Sikh woman that is raped.

Second day - 1st November 1984 Congress party MP Sajjan Kumar and Trade Union leader Lalit Maken handed out 100 rupee notes and bottles of liquor to assailants. On the morning of 1st November, Sajjan Kumar was seen holding rallies in, at least, the following Delhi neighborhoods; in Palam Colony from 6:30 AM to 7:00 AM, in Kiran Gardens from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM, and in Sultanpuri from around 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM.

In Kiran Gardens at 8:00 AM, Sajjan Kumar was seen distributing iron rods from a parked truck to a group of 120 people and instructing them to "attack Sikhs, kill them, and loot and burn their properties" The FIRST killing of a Sikh occurs in east Delhi. Armed mobs with guns lead the way.

9:00 am: Armed mobs take over the streets of Delhi and launch a massacre. Among the first targets are Gurdwaras. Sikhs seen in cars, public transport, including buses and trains are being dragged out...Sikh men are being beaten with rods and tyres are being placed around their necks... doused with kerosene oil..they are being set a light! Before they are being burnt they are pinned down and their hair and beards are being forcibly cut off.

120 Sikhs working at the Bokaro Steel Plant Jharkhand thrown alive into burning furnaces.

In Agartala, Tripura 40 Sikh families who took refuge in a police station to save their lives were burnt alive in the police station.

In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh 12 Sikhs were hanged from the ceiling at the railway platform. Sikh women are being gang raped, beaten...stripped naked they sit next to the burning bodies of their husbands, bothers, sons. 40-50 Sikh girls are kidnapped and taken to a Chilla village where they are raped for 7 days!! Sikh belongings are being looted, their homes and business set alight. The police refuse to help or intervene. In some cases, the Police actually assist the mobs by disarming Sikhs so they could attack them. The worst affected areas are low income colonies like Trilokpuri, Shahdara, geeta colony,Mongolpuri, Sultanpuri and Palam Colony. 100's of Gurdwara are being burnt, Shiri Guru Granth Sahib ji de saroop are being set alight...Waheguru. This scene is being replicated in others parts of India.

The state media show looped video clips of Amitabh Bachchan raising slogans like "Khoon ka badla khoon" (blood for blood) and "Khoon ke chintey sikhon ke ghar tak pahunchni chahiye" (Splashes of blood should reach the doorsteps of Sikhs).

Third day -2nd November 1984 A repeat of 1st November. And A curfew is announced throughout Delhi, but is not enforced. The Army deployed throughout Delhi too but ineffective because the police did not co-operate with soldiers (who are not allowed to open fire without the consent of senior police officers and executive magistrates). The killings, rapes and looting continue.

Fourth day -3rd November 1984 Massacre continues. By late evening, the national Army and local police units work together to subdue the violence. After law enforcement intervention, violence is comparatively mild and sporadic. In Delhi the dead bodies of the victims were taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi and Civil Hospital Mortuary Tis hazari, Delhi.

It is now believed that 30,000 plus Sikhs Perished throughout India during these 4 days of State Sponsored Massacre. 100's of Sikh women listed missing / unaccounted for. 100's of young children missing /unaccounted for.

Even after 30 years the justice is still far away. And only god know how long it will remain the same.

Lessons for Life #52

The sad truth is that there are some people who will only be there for you as long as you have something they need. When you no longer serve a purpose to them, they will leave. The good news is, if you tough it out, you’ll eventually weed these people out of your life and be left with some great people you can count on. We rarely lose friends, we just gradually figure out who our real ones are.
~ Darren John Maxwell

The world is full of people of the first kind, the ones who seek something from their friends. So you need to identify them not because you would want them to remove them from your life but also because in the process of elimination you will get to know who the real ones are, the one there for you without needing anything in return. And they are worth to be part of your life. :)

Lessons for Life #51

51 it is. Do you know that 51 is considered a auspicious number in India (basically Punjab).
So lets see what we got this time. This pic says that fear is temporary but regret is forever. Does this ring your bells. On what account this is true.

Well, its about any task or thing we think of doing but end up not starting it out of fear, but what next. Guess later in future we start regretting it and it goes on till the end. So basically fear is up to that point where we decide to do it or not. And regret comes later when we don't do it. Regret hurts more than anything and you gotta believe this.

So the thing is if initially you are afraid but finally you gather enough courage to start with that thing/task then there is no reason for regret for the rest of your life, because then even if you fail its assured that at least you give it a good shot.

Next time you encounter anything, try and defeat fear to give it try or else you will end up regretting about it your whole life.

Power Of Love: Lessons for Life #50

Here we are at our 50th lesson and it seems I just started a few days back. Never knew that "Golden Jubilee" will come so soon. On this special occasion lets learn something about the basic and most important feeling of any relationship. And you are right..!! Its LOVE.

Have you ever heard that what can it do. Well, lets see:-

There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer,
no disease that enough love will not heal,
no door that enough love will not bridge,
no wall that enough love will not throw down,
no sin that enough love will not redeem.
It makes no difference
how deeply seated may be the trouble,
how hopeless the outlook,
how muddled the tangle,
how great the mistake.
A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all. If only you could love enough, you could be the happiest and most powerful being in the world..!!
—Emmet Fox

So from now on try to love enough to cope with all the things of your life and make heaven here on earth :)

Its Going to Be Okay

Sometimes the door closes on a relationship, not because we failed but because something bigger than us says this no longer fits our life. So, lock the door, shed your tears, and when you’re ready, turn around and look for the new door that’s opened. Just assume that better things are coming. It’s a sign that you’re no longer that person you were, it’s time to change into who you are. Just give it time. It’s going to be okay.

-Lee Goff

Lessons for Life #49

Today lets be short like the pic above. It says that one should work hard in silence, no need to roam around and tell about the things you are doing. That will automatically be known when your success stories spread like the ripples in the water.

Apart from that the more silent you are more work would be done and sooner you will get success. :)

Lessons for Life #48

You might have heard a phrase :- "Be the change you want to see in the world". But beyond that there are other things we need to consider. This time too the pic says many things.

We all definitely want good persons to be around us. But the question we need to ask ourselves is "are we good too?" because we generally easily mingle and meet the persons who are like us. So if you want yourself to be surrounded by good people, be one too.

Common habit of people on earth is they talk a lot about the person's back to others and often that talk about is the things they dislike about them. This leads in the spoiling of that persons name in the eyes of those others. But people usually don't realize that they are too targeted the same way. So you want your image to be intact then stop saying those things to others, its none of your concern.

Likewise is the thing with mistakes and apologies. People usually think that seeking forgiveness is quite easy for others but they don't think its easy for them. You see "what goes around, comes around." If you forgive easily the mistakes of others you will get one soon for yours.

Human nature is usually not to love or accept all. But the thing is this is with all,  not you only. So if you want to be accepted then accept and love others. And try not to have motive, fear and judgement for/from others. I know that these are next to impossible. But as much close you can get to these characteristics the more pure and superior you become from others in this relative world.

This have been one of those long messages, time to end it. Bbye and have a great week ahead. :)
